Nebraska (2013)

Family is complicated, as is small town interpersonal politics. The addition of fame and a potential fortune amplifies tensions that crescendo towards a battle for personal pride. When a hapless salesman realizes his boozy old father plans to travel cross- country to claim a non-existent prize based on a misunderstanding, it’s becomes clear he’s just along for the ride. Who can say which came first– their estrangement or their personal issues. But one thing’s for certain: if he can somehow get through to his stubborn old man, convincing him to abandon his delusion and return home will be the biggest pitch of his life. Yet, every dynamic shifts as the confused old man fumbles his way through a quest to evade gold-digging relatives and old friends with grudges and everyone else in his dried up home town, who’s practically begging to be put in their place.
