It’s OK for a film that’s not a documentary to be more interesting in subject than plot. Really. Assuming they’re foreign to you, the Hebrew language and Israeli culture are fascinating yet approachable as presented in the context of academia, which is brutally competitive in any culture. A father and son interpret the Talmud differently and thus pitted against each other. An award inflates the layered rivalry into a feud of Biblical proportions .
